1. Aristotle was the earliest scientist to attempt a more scientific basis classification. He used simple morphological characters to classify plants into trees, shrubs and herbs.

2. Fungi have chitin in their cell wall while green plants have cellulose.

3. According to five Kingdom of classification, the unicellular eukaryotic organisms were placed in Kingdom protista. 

4. The Whittaker 's classification system is not only based on morphological, physiological and reproductive similarities, but also on phylogenetic relationships. 

5. Methanogens are present in the gut of several ruminant animals such as cows and buffaloes and they are responsible for the production of methane from the dung of these animals. 

6. In Nostoc, the site of nitrogen fixation is heterocyst. 

7. Cholera, tetanus, and citrus canker are well known diseases caused by different bacteria. 

8. Bacteria reproduce mainly by fussion. 

9. The mycoplasma are organisms that completely lack a cell wall. They are smallest living cells known and can survive without oxygen. 

10. Chrysophytes, euglenoids and slime moulds belong to the kingdom protista.

 Biological classification notes.  11 . Chrysophytes includes diatoms and desmids.  12. In diatoms, members of Chrysophytes, the cell wall forms two thin overlapping shells, that fit together as a soap box.  13. Diatoms left behind large amount of cell wall deposits in their habitat ' this accumulation over billions of years is referred to as diatomaceous Earth.  14.
